Advanced Utility Systems

Advanced Utility Systems Web Design

This was a web rebuild done for Advanced Utility Systems (AUS) based in Ottowa, CA. The company had decided to move from its current host at Hubspot to another host and to rebuild in WordPress Content Management System. The only challenge beyond changing platforms was that the current host contract ended in March, so there was only a 2-month window to find a new host and rebuild the site.

I worked closely with Marketing Manager Kathy Latiolais DeGlandon during the early stages to establish that new host and zone in on a page builder that AUS would be comfortable maintaining after I was done with the design. We briefly considered Kadence and Generate blocks before settling on Genesis Blocks.

I spent a few weeks recreating the home page and then shared it with Kathy for a review in early January. This was well received so it was full speed ahead on building the other pages. I enjoyed working with Genesis blocks and it nice practical starter templates for full pages as well as typical sections. I offered up the full site which contained 11 pages and around 20 blog posts for a final review.

It was during this portion of the process that we made some sitewide adjustments like removing the author/date from blogs, changing the shade of black used in text/art, and changing the margins and padding for mobile layouts.

In the end, the site was delivered almost a month ahead of schedule and the client is very happy to have the site reworked in WordPress.
