This is a project I took on for pure fun. I wanted to imagine a set of Andor trading cards in the same style as the original Topps cards from the 70s.
I chose my favorite character, Mon Mothma, as the subject and used Han Solo 1977 as a style guide.
Here’s how you can make your own.
Document size 3.5 inches x 2.5 inches, Resolution 300 dpi
Background Color Fill #2a7215 Filter: Add Noise 12.5
Next, add an offwhite #f2f7e5 box with a 5-point black stroke on the outside. Repeat Filter: Add Noise 12.5
Then a Blue Box # 5671ca with a 5-point black stroke on the outside. Repeat Filter: Add Noise 12.5
Use the Pen tool to trace or draw a burst. I outlined my old Han Solo card image.
Once complete, fill with Red #e52600 Repeat Filter: Add Noise 12.5
Duplicate this burst, change the color to Black, and move the layer behind the red one. Use Transform to make the black burst proportionally larger than the red one. I placed both the white and blue box in a group folder and added a layer mask to hide the frame in the bottom left corner.
Add your cutout character. I found this image on Wookiepedia. Repeat Filter: Add Noise 12.5
Add text and brand logos. I used Helvetica bold, yellow 100%, an 8.89-point Title, and an 8-point subtitle.
