This is a site I built with WordPress for a longtime friend and musical collaborator. I had the advantage of that long running relationship to pool concepts and resources to make this a fun and engaging site.
Brefmint is a variation on an original name of Brefrow which was a fun-hearted nod at Rap label Death Row. Knowing about these 90’s hip-hop roots made research for the visual side of Brefmint satisfying.
After much thought, I choose Master P’s “Da Last Don” as the design inspiration. This gave me an opportunity to emblazon the Brefmint Logo with gold and glitter. It also justified the deliberately dated 90’s style text arch. Also inspired by the Master P cover is a courthouse image with a green overlay to act as a background element.
The next step was finding a theme to use as a launchpad. Once I had a workable one I tweaked the text, color and layout options to suit the needs of the site. I spent a bit working with widgets and menu variations trying to find the right layout. Then, I installed some plugins to make posting music and images easy, and turned the template over to my friend Matthew to plug in content.
If you are not already a fan please take a stroll through Matthew’s various projects ranging from Bluegrass to Singer/Songwriter, Rock, all done with a great deal of heart, humor and talent.
