Flyer Vault

I ran across these little bits of my music history and thought it would be fun to share them along with some thoughts on the memories connected to them. Some of these are promo pieces created by friends, and others are my designs.

First up a super rare copy of the original All-Star Horse Meat Band cassette insert from 1991. This collage sleeve was created by Lucy Daigle and about 5 copies were dubbed.

Front Cassette Cover.
Frogs and Dinosaurs are already part of the band’s look.
Inside credits. Notice I had a pseudonym of Syd during this era.

I joined this group of bright, young lads in 1994 in Carrollton, GA.
The band was named after the chemical dye in Mountain Dew (our drug of choice).

Another unpublished flyer by Lucy Daigle. This one highlighting that we had “gone Country” since we now had 2 songs using G major and no yelling.
Another Yellow 5 Flyer by Lucy Daigle.
Yellow 5 eventually changed their name to Camel Toe and became weird enough to warrant a Zappa endorsement.

Post College brings the Jamband era. I had a 5-String bass and lots of clunky slap licks. The songs were long and the stages were filled with Musicians. The venues of the days included The Brandyhouse, Jake’s Roadhouse, The Corner Cafe, Millies, and various backyards and basements across West Georgia.

Camel Toe mutated into proto Jam group Handpuppet in the late 90’s.
This flyer was made by Drummer Michael O’Keefe to highlight a meeting of Carrollton, GA’s Jam Titans Dysfunktion Junktion and Fatty Acid. I would later join O’Keefe’s band as the bass player.

This is a collage I made to promote a show in 2001.
Fatty Acid basic flyer created with Photoshop 4.0.
Flyer for Fatty Acid at the Corner Cafe in Carrollton, GA. A colorful layout also shows photos of the band. Featuring Steve Abercrombie, Nik Fields, Nicodemus Flores, Phillip Jon, Pat Johnson and Nicole Long.
Fatty Acid expanded.
Here is a flyer created by Fatty Acid drummer Charlie Akin.

I moved to Athens, GA in 2007, and new projects were afoot! From Surf Punk, to Americana, Grateful Dead cover bands, and continued solo experiments.

flyer broke on output. Look at those weird drop shadows!
Remember MySpace?
One of my favorite promo photos. Photo by Dwayne Phillips.
This band only played one show, but it was full of great players.
Nice Machine at their favorite venue Hendershots.
An insane night of music in Carrollton, GA. Featuring Birmingham friends King Carnivore and The Nice Machine.
