The Mad Collectors is a new YouTube series I created with Aaron Ford, covering a wide range of physical media. We have a long history of music discussions that often spanned hours and covered a wealth of history and multiple genres, so the essence of the show was well conveyed.
Both Ford and I have backgrounds with DIY/Punk culture, so it did not matter that neither of us had any experience producing a vodcast. So, this allows everyone to watch us learn and adapt with each episode.
Producing the show brought on a series of technical and creative challenges each week, as I worked through various platforms trying to find the best one. Our initial plan to record on Skype was serviceable but low fidelity in presentation. 3 shows in, we get a notice that Skype is going away, so we look into other ways of recording the show.
Post-production editing was done with a combination of After Effects and Premiere Pro. Intro screens and assorted graphics also done with Photoshop.
We eventually settled on Riverside.fm to produce the remaining 6 episodes.
