This is an original design created for the band The Wallflowers for a show in Kalamazoo, MI.
The band supplied a logo, album art, and a press photo of songwriter Jakob Dylan. The purple hues in the album art brought to mind the wisteria vine that used to cover our old property in Athens, GA. The invasive plant had thick probing vines that devoured the land but also had a beautiful purple/lavender flower in the spring.
So, I generated a fence background similar to the one in the press photo, added some grainy texture, and finally, some wisteria-inspired vines. I changed the fence color to purple to match the flowers and offer better contrast for the type and photo to be added.
The type incorporated some grays from the album art, and promoter logos were added.
