ADAM KLEIN & THE WILD FIRES -Little Kings Shuffle Club 4/11/2011

Here is a live release from the Stabercrombie Vault featuring Adam Klein and the Wild Fires.
This show was part of the 2011 Athens Americana Fest, and although I believe it was technically billed as Adam Klein and Friends, this does contain the core group that went on to record and perform and AK&TWF.

This was Songwriter Adam Klein’s first exploration of using a full band. He had several solo recordings and duo performances on his resume, and the band name The Wild Fires went on to contain a host of regional talent.

The lineup here includes ace Producer/Drummer/Full Stack Musician Bronson Tew, Myself on Bass, and Chris “Crash” Cason on Guitar. Many other musicians would join the Wild Fires over the years including Michael Bowman, Michael Shackleford, & The Pozz to name a few.

The rotating lineups offered us a chance to emulate Dylan’s bands and Neil Young & Crazy Horse in the sense that the feel, dynamics, and tempos could vary depending on who was on board. This was great for me especially since it allowed a melding of my previous musical approaches. I could be a supportive bass player and serve the song, but also monkey around with the nuances like I had in the Jam projects.

Along with the Nice Machine, Adam Klein was one of my longest-running collaborators during the Athens, GA years. His fine literary songwriting sits on the shelf among the masters in my book. His professional and compassionate band leader style is also unparalleled! I count these as some of the happiest and most relaxed stage experiences of my career.

So, find some nice boots, maybe a relaxing beverage, and put on your best Americana shirt for Adam Klein and the Wild Fires! Recording courtesy of Kurt Strickland.

  1. Wow! This is great! How y’all doing? In PA these days (still). Definitely hit me up if in the area. I was planning to come down, but COVID happened. After? Got plans?

The Stabercrombies have relocated to Madison, WI, but who knows for how long thanks to COVID and Music Industry meltdown.
